Welcome back warm weather! We missed you.

For a while it looked liked Spring was never coming to New York.  It seemed like the cold weather we had in March  would never leave us but finally, things are looking up.  We have been treated to warm weather and we are loving it.  The time to put away our coats, sweaters and boots is now and we can look forward to using light clothes and forget about layers for several months.

To celebrate the start of warm weather, we are bringing out one of our favorite pieces – a ruffled blouse in a bright, flirty floral print.  Not only is it light and comfortable, the ruffles are a must-have trend for the summer season.

A really neat thing about ruffles is that we can be creative.  Besides blouses, ruffles work very well in skirts, dresses and jackets.  Take a chance and wear pieces accented with dramatic ruffles.  If you are a bit more demure, try pieces where the ruffles are an extra highlight.

Enjoy the warm weather – we all deserve it!

Best Looks and New Trends in Makeup from the 2017 Met Gala

The 2017 Met Gala left us with many stunning looks.  We asked our favorite makeup artist Yael Balbachan about the new trends on display.

Lips and Eyelashes

Lili Collins stole the show with her statement lips and XXL eyelashes. Her super neat and clean look did not go unnoticed.

Eyeshadows and Lashes

This was a popular look at the Gala and our favorites were Rihanna, Halle Berry and Selena Gomez.  The key was the use of eyeshadow smudged towards the edges and going over the eyelids which is a technique to blur the eyes.  Pink and red were the popular tones.

Makeup no Makeup

The most common look we saw on the red carpet was natural, giving a sense of wearing no makeup at all.  Makeup no makeup proved to be the most popular look at the gala.  A few celebrities, Blake Lively, Kylie Jenner and Zoe Kravitz among our favorites, opted to "glam” it up with cat eyes.

Enjoy!

XOXOXOXO,

Claudia, Eli and Yael.

Help When Crossing Abbey Road by Emily Eden

Recently, we had the privilege of working with Emily Eden, an up and coming actress, singer and writer for the Huffington Post.

One day, she asked us if we knew a good photographer and fashion stylist for a project she had in mind.  It only took a few minutes to realize we wanted to help make her vision come to life.

Emily had a small accident that resulted in a knee injury.  It was painful to walk so getting around the city was a major problem.  Living in New York, where everyone is on the go, made her understand how a disability, no matter how minor, made something so basic as crossing the street or getting on the subway a difficult task.

Help When Crossing Abbey Road is the title of an article she wrote for the Huffington Post that raises awareness about the difficulties in getting around people with disabilities or injuries experience in New York.  It was a pleasure for us to help her get her message across!

How to Survive New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is fast approaching and we are busy getting ready. So much to do and see!  One has to run from event to event where shows run on each other.  How to stay chic during the hectic week?

We always try to look as good as possible without showing the fatigue that is inevitable during the crazy week. We’d like to share some useful tips to survive the week and maintain an impeccable look during the long days when there is no time to re do your whole makeup. The key is to know which are the best products for a quick retouch.  Thankfully, Iael Balbachan (@iael.balbachan), our makeup artist extraordinaire, has us covered.

Cleansing wipes: essential to retouch the area under the eyes where fatigue becomes most noticeable. Keep them in your purse and during a quick escape to the powder room, use them to refresh the eyes and clean up any makeup imperfection.

Liquid highlighter: We recommend one with high pigment concentration so it can cover the imperfections but is light enough to not  accentuate the expression lines.  It should be easy to apply for a quick retouch around eye bags. We love Ives Saint Laurent Touche Éclair o Mac Prep+Prime highlighter, you can find them in three tones.

Water-resistant mascara: As you go from one show to the next, you can’t afford to have your mascara run all over your face. We recommend water proof mascara that can maintain itself intact throughout a long and active day such as Le Volume from Chanel or Dior Show.

Bronzer:  Keep your makeup looking fresh so that your skin looks vibrant and healthy. We suggest Bare Minerals Bare skin sheer sun Serum Bronzer, or Dior Nude which are easy to apply with your fingers or a brush.

Long lasting lipstick: Sephora offers a wide selection of long-lasting lipstickand they don’t run at all! However, it is always good to keep a lip balm in your bag to retouch your lips and avoid dryness.

Last but not least stay hydrated we love FIX+, a water mist from MAC that refreshes and fixed makeup for hours.

Makeup Tips for Holidays

As the holiday season starts to enter into full swing, the invitations quickly start to pile up.  Whether it is the office dinner, an ugly sweater party or a get-together with friends to bid 2016 farewell, we want to look our best for every event and our favorite makeup artist Iael Balbachan (@yael.balbachan) has us covered with stylish tips for the season.

Your eyes are the star of the season

Don’t be afraid to have a little fun and liquid eyeliner can become your new best friend.  Be bold and try it with neon, metallic or primary colors like blue or green.  MAC offers a wide variety of long-lasting colors for every style.  Highlight your eyes with extra mascara or XXL lashes to give them a dramatic effect.

Smokey Eyes are always in style and never fail to impress.  They go well with every look but be careful if you have small eyes.

Perfect skin never goes out of style

A foundation that creates a camouflage effect can help cover up blemishes.  We love Dermacolor from Kryolan.

Your lips are the center of attention

Well defined lips are ideal and we recommend a long-lasting lipstick from Kylie Cosmetics for instant, bold matte lips - a perfect option that does not run or fade.

A good tip is to apply a layer of silver or gold pigments or glitters to achieve a glamorous look for special events.

Happy Holidays from Claudia, Ely and Iael!

Holiday Style

As we’re diving deeper and deeper into the autumn season you’re probably starting to plan what to wear for this Holiday season. From statement furs to tinsel and velvet here are some of our top trends to sport this season in the midst of your holiday company. If you haven’t already bought into the velvet trend it’s time to get on this super soft and chic bandwagon. Velvet is the it fabric of the season and is a must have piece for your wardrobe. What has made this 90s comeback the most exciting is we’re seeing casual pieces from basic tanks to outerwear being interpreted into this trend. So if you’re really looking to stand out this season try out a velvet jumpsuit or if you’re trying to keep it simple you can’t go wrong with a velvet bomber. Another trend for the season we are loving is the subtle metal detailing being incorporated into different garments; it’s an unexpected twist that will update that basic sweater into a statement sweater. This seasons furs will have all eyes on you, both faux and real are not for the meek. Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Oscar de la Renta incorporated crazy patterns and styles with their fur jackets for the season. We think you should take the leap add one of these statement furs to your ensemble. We hope you guys will be rocking some of these styles this holiday season, we know we will!
